Help us make sure we know where to send your rewards: BackerKit surveys are going out
5 months ago – Mon, May 20, 2024 at 04:46:59 PM

Hello everyone,

You should all be receiving your BackerKit surveys (emails which will link you to the BackerKit Pledge Manager) over the course of the next week, starting today. This is how we confirm your rewards and how we know where to send your stuff, so it's crucial that you complete it.

The survey, in addition to asking you to provide your shipping address and confirm the items you ordered during the campaign, will give you the opportunity to add on more items if you want, including more copies of the book and the ex libris and bookmark from the campaign, as well as some other Helios House titles and products.

The surveys will remain open for a little while, but we really appreciate your quick response to them, as getting the addresses and your add-on orders quickly helps us to plan out our logistics for the production and fulfillment of your orders. You will still be able to make changes to your order and your address information until we lock the surveys—and we'll notify you in advance before we do that—so it's perfectly OK to submit your information now and update later if needed. You will also not be charged for any additional items you may add on until we have locked the surveys.

If you don't receive your survey right away, no need to worry! We will send another update after everything has gone out letting you know how to contact us if you have not received yours.

That's all for now! Thanks, as ever, for your continued support, and if you know anyone who missed the campaign, we will be taking additional pre-orders through the BackerKit pre-order site.

A note of gratitude, and some information on what happens now
6 months ago – Fri, Apr 19, 2024 at 10:35:14 AM

Thank you!

We are deeply grateful to all of you for helping us to fund this project and to reach our Dining with the Houdinis stretch goal, and we are looking forward to bringing you this beautiful expanded and enhanced new edition of The Gentleman from Angell Street. We will continue to send regular updates through the production process to keep you informed of our progress and to share fun peeks behind the scenes. We know a lot of you are returning backers, many of whom previously supported our Miskatonic Missives project or The Shunned House: Recluse Replica, and that many of you are members of the Miskatonic Literary Society. We truly appreciate all of your continuing support, and hope that we can continue to meet or exceed your expectations on these and future projects.

What happens now?

We will of course be hard at work in the coming weeks and months producing the books and extras, but we wanted to let you know what to expect on your side.

First, you will be charged by Kickstarter soon if you have not been already. If there is an issue—a typo in your card number, you used an account that has since expired or been closed, etc.—you will receive a notice from Kickstarter. Please keep an eye out to make sure that if you get such a notice, you are able to address the issue.

Next, we will start the fulfilment process. This will include a "survey" that you will need to complete in order to receive your rewards. This is not an opinion survey or market research or anything like that; it is an essential questionnaire that provides us with key information like your address. If you don't complete it, we won't know where to send your stuff! If you're anything like us, this email will be buried in your inbox within a day or two, so we recommend filling it out as soon as possible—you will be able to make changes later if needed. We expect to start sending these in about 2-3 weeks, but we will send another update to let you know when they start to go out, as well as one to let you know when they have all been sent.

Miss something during the campaign?

Accessing this survey will also allow you to manage your pledge, meaning you will be able to upgrade to a higher Kickstarter reward tier or add on additional items. As access to the pledge manager is only for Kickstarter backers, all items will still be offered at the original Kickstarter backer rates. We will have more details on this process in coming updates, but we can tell you that when you go in to manage your pledge, you will  be able to add on more copies of the book, more Helios House Press Lovecraftiana, and we might have some additional goodies to offer as well, so keep an eye out for these updates!

Once again, thank you for backing this in this project and helping us bring The Gentleman from Angell Street to life.

Endlessly grateful,

Helios House Press

We hit our 'dining with the Houdinis' art stretch goal!
6 months ago – Wed, Apr 17, 2024 at 05:30:55 AM

Dearest backers,

You did it! You helped us reach our stretch goal to give us the opportunity to commission an artist to create a brand new work for us depicting the night in October of 1926 when the Lovecraft and the Eddys dined with Harry and Bess Houdini (and Bess' pet parrot). (And thank goodness you did, because we were so excited about this one that, to be completely honest, we were already in early discussions with a favorite artist of ours about the piece...)

We've got just two days left in the campaign, so please keep sharing with friends who might be interested, or if you are someone who is on the fence about backing yourself, consider putting in a pledge, to help us make this project all it can be!

Thank you so much for all of your support, and we look forward to reaching out again soon after the campaign wraps up this Thursday, 18 April.

All the best,

Helios House Press

Thank you so much!

Hello backers!

Thank you so much for supporting this project. We are thrilled to have met our funding goal and to know that we are going to be able to bring you this beautiful expanded new edition of The Gentleman from Angell Street!

With that initial goal met, we turn our attention to our first stretch goal, and it's from an idea brought up to us by Mr. Andrew Leman of the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, and a goal we'd dearly like to meet!

In one of Muriel E. Eddy's letters in the book, she talks about a dinner that took place in 1926, not long before Harry Houdini's death. Picture it: midnight in Providence, Houdini, his wife Bess with her parrot perched on her shoulder sipping tea delicately from a spoon, a vivacious Lovecraft discussing a wide range of topics while dining on ice cream served in a cantaloupe half...You want to see this rendered by an accomplished artist as much as we do, we're sure of it!

Help us to meet our next stretch goal and we will hire just such an artist to bring this scene to life for inclusion in the book, and perhaps even as a print for those who might like to have it on their wall? Spread the word about the campaign to those you know who might be interested and help us get there.

We are delighted to be making this book! We will be in touch soon, and thank you again for your support for the project.

Thank you so much for such a strong start to our campaign!

Hello dear backers!

Day one of this campaign exceeded our expectations! We are already nearly three quarters of the way to our funding goal after less than 24 hours, thanks to your generous support for this project. We are excited to help make this very personal project shine.

Jim Dyer of Fenham Publishing, publisher of the original edition of this book, is the grandson of the Eddys, and the stories in this book, of companionship and shared interests, warm remembrances and contemporary correspondences, belong to his own family history as well as to the personal history of H.P. Lovecraft. We are pleased to have his support in making this project a reality.

We are looking forward to expanding the Fenham original, bringing it to life in full color and in the kind of beautifully made high-end volume many of you have learned to expect from Helios House Press in our work with the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society and the world of Lovecraftiana in general.

We look forward to sharing more with you as the campaign progresses, and if we meet our initial goal, we have some really rich stretch goals in mind, so please spread the word about the project to anyone you think might be interested!

Thank you again, and we will have more updates for you soon.

Kindest regards,

Helios House Press
